NoviFlow demonstrates 2500 flow-mods/sec and L4-L7 Matching and Switching at Interop Tokyo 2014
At Interop in Tokyo, Japan – With our Japanese Authorized Distributor Network Value Components Ltd (NVC), NoviFlow Inc. is demonstrating our NoviSwitch 1248 with an unprecedented capacity for flow-modifications: over 2500 flow-mods per second – beating our previous world record of 1000 flow-mods per second by a factor of two and a half times! This breakthrough was made possible by improvements to the NoviSwitch’s innovative Network Processor based NoviWare software, and can be applied to existing NoviSwitches via a software upgrade.
Also at Interop Tokyo, NoviFlow demonstrated its OpenFlow Experimenter feature enabling matching and flow management based on higher layers of the OSI protocol stack (L4-L7), in the case of this demo UDP packet payload.
Dominique Jodoin, our President and Chief Executive Officer was at our booth and reports: “Customers were very impressed! Our 2500 flow-mod/second demo on the NoviSwitch 1248 just blew them away! NoviSwitch uniquely delivers the OpenFlow throughput required by Intelligent Edge Applications, such as load balancers, firewalls, TAP, and Network Functions Virtualization. And then we did the UDP packet payload matching and flow management demo, showing how NoviFlow has extended the capabilities of OpenFlow into high performance L4-L7 based switching. More than one customer remarked that this feature radically changes how the application and control layers interact with data carried by the transport layer, truly unleashing the potential of Software Defined Networking.”
NoviFlow also had the pleasure of presenting a seminar: “Use cases for high capacity OpenFlow switching at the intelligent edge”. Our VP of Sales, Jesper Eriksson presented to a standing-room-only crowd! Visitors to the NoviFlow website can download a copy of the white paper based on the same content here: SDN/OpenFlow Switches at the Intelligent Edge.
Last, but not least, here is the star of the show (literally – see the star!) in the Interop SDI showcase: the NoviSwitch 1248 (that’s two of them in the rack, actually!)
